Art therapy is the use of art materials in a therapeutic mode to bring insight, grow, heal and ignite change. Art therapy is playful and insightful. It creates an opportunity to experience flow. It engages curiosity and empowers change through subtle action. what can develop in engaging in the process is an intrinsic deepening of our awareness of self and therefore others, to enrich our lives with clearer purpose and joy. The use of art to express oneself, one's culture and one's experiences, is ancient and intuitively lies within us all.

In an art therapy session there is often a mixture of dialogue and art making, although art making does not need to occur. Shifts and insights can occur purely through the creative process and being witnessed with respect and integrity, no words being necessary. There is a magic that manifests when an individual allows themselves the courage to express what the body or soul desires in order to organically heal.
